As the first hotel chain in Copenhagen, we are now part of the B Corp club!
Having a responsible mindset is how we’ve always done business, but now we are part of something B-igger. As a Certified B Corporation, we’ve proudly joined a global movement of international businesses, where we work together across the globe to make a positive social and environmental impact on the world - and use business as a force for good. So, this is such a huge acknowledgement!
B Corp is an important global certification because it doesn't just focus on the sustainability of the product but on the entire business chain. Achieving B Corp entails that you meet the high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. This is achieved through quite a detailed 'B Impact Assessment', which involves collecting the necessary points to prove that you meet these high standards across five key impact pillars: governance, workers, customers, community, and environment.
So, let’s just say… becoming a B Corp isn’t easy.
But that’s where our ‘challenge accepted’ kind of mindset kicks in – especially when it comes to how we can make a positive change to our planet and the people in it. So, we dove headfirst into the process and during the last 2 years, we have examined our business through a microscope. And… we sure learned a lot! While we could proudly check off numerous boxes, we’ve also identified areas where we can do a lot better. We even did a few slipups as well. Because doing good doesn’t mean doing perfect.
Even though this feels like wearing a batch of honor, becoming a Certified B Corporation isn’t an award to show off; it's a collective commitment and an ongoing journey toward improvement. So, simply gaining membership is not enough. We hold ourselves accountable every single day for how we as a company exists and acts in the world, and continue to improve our social and environmental impact - as a team.
But how? Well, if you’re into nerdy numbers and diagrams, you can get all the sustainable insights in our Responsibility Report - or simply scroll this page for a 'not-so-heavy reading' version...
