Brøchner Hotels opens new luxury boutique hotel in iconic brewery buildings at Carlsberg City District in Copenhagen.
You are probably thinking about beer when reading ‘Carlsberg’. But what you might not know is, that Carlsberg is also a city district in the centre of Copenhagen called Carlsberg City District, where the beer was produced from 1847-2008 in iconic buildings, which in 2019 will reopen as a luxury boutique hotel.
The Danish boutique hotel chain Brøchner Hotels is expanding rapidly the coming years. In 2019 the hotel chain will open a new boutique hotel in the iconic brewery buildings and historic surroundings in the urban renewal of Carlsberg City District situated in the centre of Copenhagen, next to the Meat Packing District, known for its vivid bar and restaurant scene.
The hotel will be named Hotel Ottilia, in acknowledgement of the wife of the famous brewer Carl Jacobsen, who is the founder of the world-famous beer Carlsberg. Hotel Ottilia will be the new district’s first hotel with its 156 rooms, conference facilities, 2 bars, ground floor café and a rooftop restaurant and terrace overlooking Copenhagen.
A one-of-a-kind experience for guests and locals
When Brøchner Hotels states, they are creating unique hotels they really do walk the talk. When arriving at Hotel Ottilia guests are met with the fascinating industrial buildings; Malt chamber and the historic, heritage-listed building Storage Cellar 3. This building has 60 golden discs in 5 rows on its façade and will have a new restaurant at the rooftop terrace commanding a spectacular view of Copenhagen.
The buildings are listed, thus all facades are being preserved while the inside is carefully transformed into a luxury boutique hotel.
Karim Nielsen, Managing Director at Brøchner Hotels, sees the historic surroundings as a great advantage for the hotel. “We are very aware that we will become part of a piece of Danish industrial history when we move into Carlsberg City District. As an authentic boutique hotel commands, we will bring the history of the buildings into the design of the hotel. The grain silos, malt houses and machines will be incorporated into the interior and become part of the hotel’s story.”
Hotel Ottilia will have 1 rooftop restaurant, 2 bars, a café on the ground floor, meeting and conference facilities for 200 guests. Thus, Hotel Ottilia will offer both guests and locals a one-of-a-kind experience and become Brøchner Hotels’s largest luxury boutique hotel.
A unique city district with a unique hotel
Brøchner Hotels’ collaboration with Carlsberg Byen P/S supports the hotel chain’s goal of creating unique hotels and helping to develop Copenhagen and making it an even more attractive city to visit.
“We are creating unique hotels and experiences that reinvent the hotel stay, and in our opinion Carlsberg City is one of the most unique areas in central Copenhagen. With Hotel Ottilia, it will become an urban district that will attract both visitors and residents, and we look forward to being part of this development,” says Brøchner Hotels’ Managing Director Karim Nielsen.
The development company Carlsberg Byen P/S, which is responsible for the regeneration of Carlsberg’s old industrial area, also look forward to working on Hotel Ottilia with Brøchner Hotels. As Carlsberg Byen’s Managing Director Jens Nyhus says:
“We are extremely pleased that Brøchner Hotels sees the same potential in the heritage-listed buildings that we do. These are some of Copenhagen’s most beautiful buildings, with a very central and attractive location that will match Brøchner Hotels’s profile well. Along with the many other new exciting restaurants, cafés and cultural activities, the hotel will attract a lot of visitors that will benefit the whole area.”
Brøchner Hotels is Denmark’s leading chain of world-class boutique hotels. This new luxury boutique hotel in Carlsberg Byen will further cement the company’s position.
