BRØCHNER HOTELS BUYS NEW HOTEL
07. January 2016
Brøchner Hotel group is adding Avenue Hotel, which is one of Copenhagen’s oldest boutique hotels, to its chain of exclusive hotels. With this acquisition, Brøchner Hotels now runs four boutique hotels in Copenhagen.
The very first boutique hotel in Copenhagen is getting new owners. Brøchner Hotels has acquired Avenue Hotel on Frederiksberg, which was previously part of the Munkebjerg Group. CEO of Brøchner Hotels, Karim Nielsen, describes the purchase as a part of the plan to strengthen the hotel group’s position within the ’boutique hotel’ genre of hotels – a plan Avenue Hotel fits perfectly in to.
“As a boutique hotel know for its distinctive design, Avenue Hotel is one of the first smaller hotels in Copenhagen, where the focus was on offering the guests a unique, personal and more intimate hotel experience. This focus has made the hotel very successful and popular if you look at the many dedicated fans and positive reviews. That’s also the reason why we won’t have the reinvent or renovate on the hotel, because it already matches the style of all of our four other hotels,” says Karim Nielsen.
Close to the hotel, are some of the capital’s classic tourist attractions, such as the Tivoli Gardens and the main shopping street Strøget, as well as being only three minutes away from the nearest Metro station. However, the classic attractions may not necessarily be what the guests at a boutique hotel are looking for, and there are plenty of other, untraditional options nearby.
“With the location Avenue Hotel has, you get a unique opportunity to experience the many aspects of Copenhagen by foot. From the stylish Frederiksberg with its many exclusive shopping possibilities to the trendy Nørrebro, where you among other things will find Griffenfeldsgade, which offers a plethora of brand new stores, restaurants and cafés. It’s the kind of “local” experiences, the classic guest at a boutique hotel values, and it will be easy to have those experiences if you’re staying at Avenue Hotel,” he adds.
At the time of the purchase, Avenue Hotel holds 68 rooms and Brøchner Hotels plans to add another 12 rooms as well as working towards making Avenue Hotel a four-star hotel, in line with the hotel group’s popular and well-reviewed Hotel SP34.
The three boutique hotels, currently run by Brøchner Hotels, are Hotel SP34, Hotel Danmark and Hotel Astoria. With the addition of Avenue Hotel, the hotel group will have 367 hotel rooms at their disposal in Copenhagen.
